No firm is allowed to offer consultancy services in Mauritius unless it is registered under the Construction Industry Authority (CIA) Act.
There are 15 Fields of Specialisation under which a Consultancy Firm can register: Architecture; Building Surveying; Civil and Structural Engineering Services; Electrical Engineering Services; Environmental Engineering Services; Environmental Impact Assessment; Interior Design; Landscape Architecture; Mechanical, Electrical and Plumbing (MEP) Engineering Services; Mechanical Engineering Services; Project Management in Construction; Quantity Surveying, Strategic Environmental Assessment; Third Party Certification; and Urban Planning.
An independent professional is not required to be registered under the provisions of the CIA Act.
Nothing precludes a person who is registered as a Professional Architect, a Professional Quantity Surveyor or a Registered Professional Engineer from taking or using the name, description, or title of “Consultant” in his respective field.
